Care

Covington has a heart for mission. We dive deep into local projects supporting families and our school-age kids and extend a helping hand both far and wide when calamity strikes or extreme hardship beckons. Here’s a look at our recent activities:

Gopher Grub/Pavilion Food Pantry

From the start of 2025, Covington family and friends donate nearly a box of cereal a day for kids in the Pavilion Central School district. This cereal goes home to help feed families during weekends off from school. At Thanksgiving we provided 15 turkeys in 2024!

School Supplies & Teacher Appreciation

Every August, we stockpile school supplies to send to the York and Pavilion elementary schools. Crayons, paper, tissue, glue, pencils, pens… you name it! At the end of the school year, we also take lunch to local teachers in appreciation for the care they provide our children.

California Wildfires

Working together with neighboring churches, we collected 60 gift cards for the Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Church which itself was razed by fire in early 2025. With boots on the ground, they provided relief to neighbors in need. Covington’s goal was 59 cards in recognition of Super Bowl 59 (LIX). If only the Bills faced off against the Eagles! Covington was also able to send cards to rural North Carolina in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

Rural Minds

Working in partnership with county and state mental health professionals, Covington hosted an evening workshop featuring the founder of Rural Minds – Jeff Winton - to increase awareness of suicide prevention resources in our most vulnerable communities.

Grants

In 2024, Covington contributed over $6,500 to local organizations providing care to our community… from the very young to our seniors, and to those suffering from illness, hunger, and substance abuse.
